CONGRESSMAN BACHUS STATEMENT ON STATE OF ALABAMA BEING CONSIDERED FOR VOLKSWAGEN PLANT

WASHINGTON – Congressman Spencer Bachus (AL-6) issued the following statement tonight in response to reports that Alabama is one of the final three states being considered by Volkswagen as a site for new production facility.
Alabama would be an outstanding location for Volkswagen’s new plant. Our state has a dedicated and productive workforce that would once again make the plant a success just as our workers have made the three present auto manufacturers successful. Alabama is now a major automobile producing state, creating a synergy benefiting Volkswagen as well as other manufacturers. Governor Riley and his economic development team are to be commended for achieving unparalleled success during his tenure. The State Department of Postsecondary Education’s AIDT has aided our economic development through its excellent job-specific training, including training for automobile plant workers in our state.
