U of A TO RECEIVE ALMOST $1 MILLION TO REDUCE YOUTH VIOLENCE

The University of Alabama will receive a $937,867 grant for conducting research to evaluate programs designed to reduce youth violence.  The research will help to reduce violence among youth by building and disseminating knowledge about effective programs and practices in violence prevention.

"Anything we can do to alleviate the violence that plagues many of today's youth should be done.  The University of Alabama's initiative in conducting research on the current programs working to curb youth violence is an important step in making government and non-profits more accountable. I'm proud to support the University in this endeavor," said Congressman Spencer Bachus.

The grant is administered by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention in the Department of Justice, Washington, D.C.
