WASHINGTON – The Lakeshore Foundation will be kicking off "Operation Adventure" September 29 through October 1. Operation Adventure is a camp to help servicemen and women regain physical fitness after military service injury and teach them how to adapt recreation activities so they can continue to pursue the things they enjoy with family and friends.
The adventure will take place at a fully accessible facility, Camp ASCCA on Lake Martin near Jackson Gap, AL. The camp is located on 230 beautiful acres with more than two miles of nature trails. Those who attend will be able to participate in bass fishing, clay and skeet shooting, archery, a climbing tower, a whole host of water sports, and more.
"Lakeshore is providing a wonderful opportunity for our servicemen and women to enjoy the outdoors. Our military should be supported before, during, and after their service to America, and the Lakeshore Foundation is to be commended for stepping up to the plate," said Congressman Spencer Bachus. "I would encourage all who are able to participate to call the Lakeshore Foundation."
The camp is free to military personnel with severe service-related injuries and free for one guest. The weekend includes all meals, all outdoor adventures and camp activities, lodging, and a travel stipend to cover airfare or mileage to and from the camp. Spots are still available, and reservations can be made up to the week of the camp. The Lakeshore Foundation can be reached at (205) 313-7416 or online at www.lakeshore.org.
