WASHINGTON – Eight months after the BRAC process gave the 117th Air National Guard Unit a new lease on life, the House Committee on Appropriations’ Subcommittee on Military Quality of Life and Veterans Affairs yesterday included $4.5 million for an Alert Crew Quarters and Mobility Processing Complex in the 2007 Military Quality of Life Appropriations Bill. The complex will be located at the Birmingham International Airport.
Congressman Spencer Bachus joined with his Alabama Congressional colleagues in requesting funding for the project, which is a top priority for the Alabama Air National Guard.
“This appropriation will help secure the future of the 117th and ensure its proud tradition and the services it performs for the citizens of Alabama and the nation continue.
“We in the Alabama delegation worked together to ensure this initiative received needed funding, and I am pleased the Military Quality of Life Subcommittee has chosen to fully fund the project in the 2007 Appropriations Bill. I look forward to voting for the bill’s passage when it reaches the House floor,” Bachus said.
