28 AGENCIES REPRESENTED

AT BACHUS GRANT CONFERENCE

WASHINGTONRepresentatives from nearly 30 state and federal government agencies will present information on grant application and opportunities May 1 at the Grant and Funding Resource Conference sponsored by Congressman Spencer Bachus.

Nearly 800 individuals, representing more than 50 of Alabama’s 67 counties, are expected to attend the three-day conference.  On May 1, participants will be divided into breakout sessions, tailored to address specific functional areas.  Local and statewide elected officials, along with their administrative staff, are encouraged to attend.  Chambers of commerce and business owners; law enforcement, fire and rescue officials; faith-based and community organizations; educators and interested individuals are also urged to participate.

Congressman Bachus earlier this week announced that HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson will give the keynote address during the May 1 luncheon.

On May 2-3, “The Art & Science of Grant Writing” curriculum will be offered by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development. The curriculum has been designed to educate organizations across the country on significant grant opportunities and provide participants with ideas and approaches to obtaining federal funds, information on how to successfully write grants, and strategies for developing coalitions.
