WASHINGTON – The Bibb County Commission has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The grant funds will be used for improvements to the Lawley Senior Center.
“We’re paving part of the parking lot to make it handicap accessible. It’s a gravel parking lot that’s hard to get around on for people with walkers and in wheelchairs,” Gene Smith, planning director at the West Alabama Regional Commission, said.
“These improvements will make the Lawley Senior Center more accessible for residents and visitors alike. The Regional Commission should be commended for securing this grant for the citizens of Bibb County,” Congressman Spencer Bachus said.
The Bibb County Commission was awarded these funds through the HRSA Division of Grants Management Operations.
