BACHUS URGES SUPPORT

FOR HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF

WASHINGTON - Congressman Spencer Bachus, Chairman of Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee, urges all Americans to join with the numerous corporate donors who have made substantial contributions to the Hurricane Katrina relief.  Congressman Bachus announced he is joining in this effort by making a $10,000 donation.

“The effort to rescue those suffering from Hurricane Katrina and rebuild the devastated areas will take financial, moral and physical support.  My donation will be divided between the Salvation Army and the American Red Cross, both of which are on the forefront of the relief effort,” Congressman Bachus said.

“The generous donations of U.S. corporations are welcomed by all those who are suffering in Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath.  Several companies have already made substantial financial donations, pledged to defer loan payments, donate vehicles and match employee and customer contributions.  These gestures are a welcome relief for those who will soon begin to rebuild their homes and their lives,” Congressman Bachus said.

“This is one of the worst natural disasters in our nation’s history.  In these times, we must band together. Hopefully, all individuals, corporations and federal government agencies, will follow this lead.  Please be aware of the difficulties these families are facing and give as generously as you are able,” Bachus concluded.
