FULTONDALE- Congressman Spencer Bachus (R-AL) has presented a check for almost three quarters of a million dollars to the Fultondale City Council. The grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency allows Fultondale to complete the long awaited buyout of homes situated in the flood plains surrounding Five Mile Creek and Black Creek.
Bachus noted, “Every torrential downpour brings the threat of major flooding along Five Mile Creek and Black Creek. This money will complete the buyout and fund the beginning of converting the land for recreational use.”
Congressman Bachus has worked closely with Mayor Jim Lowery, the Fultondale City Council, and Fultondale building inspector Darryl Aldrich to find a solution to the repeated flooding of homes in Fultondale. Today's $700,000 grant is a step in completing that solution and making it a reality.
