WASHINGTON - Congressman Spencer Bachus today announced that Alabama would receive more than $800,000 from the U.S. Department of Justice for emergency law enforcement support funding as a result of the hurricane damage to the state.
“This funding is vital at a time when our law enforcement has been called upon to go the extra mile. No one could have anticipated the destruction brought about by Hurricane Katrina. This money will ensure our officials are able to properly respond,” Congressman Bachus said.
Ten percent of these funds will go to the state with the rest divided between counties and cities.
