WASHINGTON- Congressman Spencer Bachus is pleased to announce that he has secured a $250,000 appropriation for the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office in the 2005 Commerce, Justice, State, and Judiciary appropriations bill passed by the House yesterday evening.
The appropriation secured by Congressman Bachus will go to purchase new technology and modernize equipment.
“Advanced technology is becoming increasingly vital in combating crime for our law enforcement officers. Even though the equipment to improve their crime prevention and investigative capabilities is available, there is no local funding to make the upgrades,” said Congressman Bachus.
Bachus continued, “Sheriff Sexton has done an exemplary job fighting crime in Tuscaloosa County. This appropriation will allow him to continue that fight.”
“The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is very pleased to receive this appropriation from Congressman Bachus. This funding will be crucial in advancing the implementation of the Pegasus Inter-agency Communications equipment,” said Sheriff Ted Sexton.
The Pegasus Communications equipment is an advanced system that will allow the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s office to share vital information between multiple law enforcement agencies simultaneously.
