BACHUS: $400,000 FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ON THE WAY TO MONTEVALLO

WASHINGTON- The University of Montevallo will benefit from almost $400,000 in federally appropriated funds that are being released today from the U.S. Department of Education thanks to Congressman Spencer Bachus.  The $397,640 in funding is needed to purchase scientific monitoring and testing equipment that will be used to conduct research on the Ebenezer Swamp in Montevallo.

“The research that students and faculty from the University of Montevallo will be conducting due to the addition of this equipment is vital to the advancement of wetland studies in this region.  I am pleased to have been of assistance in making this advancement in science and education possible,” said Congressman Bachus.

Congressman Bachus secured these funds as part of the FY 2004 Labor, HHS, and Education Appropriations Bill to be used to purchase equipment for the University of Montevallo biology, math, and science departments in connection with the Ebenezer Swamp Wetlands Interpretative Center.
