Preparing for the Digital Television Transition
A historic day in television broadcasting will happen on February 17, 2009, when the pictures you receive in your home will be fully converted from analog to digital signals. This will represent a great advance in the quality of your television picture, and free up precious analog space for public safety and other important communications uses.
However, households that are currently receiving free over-the-air television signals using traditional antennas will need either a new set equipped to receive DTV or a converter box that will allow their old televisions to receive the new signals.
To ensure that this transition occurs smoothly, the Federal Communications Commission
has set up a website to answer questions and provide assistance with transition to DTV. You can visit this website at www.dtv.gov.
